A Thought of The Day - illusioned.

That was weird.

It certainly was – I sound like Stanley – but then the whole world is weird.

WWW dot.

Whole world weird, yep, it certainly is – there I go again.

You look a bit like him.

I don’t.

You do; your hair does, well, it would if you had any.

Ok move along, let’s get back to weird.

Did we ever leave it?

Fair point, but as you were saying it was weird.

So you know what I’m talking about?

Yep….. the Christmas Sheep car from Ireland.

Car? Don’t you mean card?

Yep, sorry, typing too quickly.

Can you say typing when it’s not a typewriter?

Yep, watch - typing, typing, typing -  I could go on all day. Typing.

Anyhow – why do you think someone would send us a Christmas Card on the 6th April?

Maybe it’s for next year and they wanted to beat the Christmas rush?

I don’t think so, it had dates written inside that suggest it was written for the Christmas just gone.

When you say just gone you mean the one that was before Easter; the Easter that is already a distant, chocolaty memory? And the Christmas that was three months before that?

Like I said, weird. A Christmas Card that turns up in the letter box at the end of the first week in April.

Maybe it’s a sign?

Maybe it was just a Christmas card that turns up in a letter box at the end of the first week in April.

Or an omen? Maybe it was frozen in time and only the heat of an anticipated summer has been enough to thaw it into the present?

Now you are just being silly. So……….. what are we going to do about it?

Nothing.

Nothing?

Nothing.

Really?

Really.

Wow –why?

Well look at it like this- if it was sent last December then four months have gone past without word of acknowledgement, the sender will have been surprised, then pissed off, then resigned and then moved on, and our Christmas reply will turn up in May and the recipient will be surprised, then alarmed and finally distraught; Christmas is a stressful time and you don’t need that in May which should be all about blossom and cherries. If however the sender sent us a Christmas card at the beginning of April they would have been forgetful at best, unfathomable and illusioned.

Don’t you mean disillusioned?

No I mean illusioned.

Isn’t that good?

Could be, but whatever we write will just go and spoil it all.

Time for a song?

By the way- does illusioned, as a word, exist?

It does now.
